The response should confirm whether or not the unit is properly connected and
communicating.
2. UseCommand‐linetotra
nsfer(FT
P)thefilesfromtheuserPCtotheCDM‐800:
• Type "ftp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" (where ‘xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx’ denotes the Management IP
addressoftheunitbeingupgraded.
• Enter the username and password assigned to the unit. The default username and
passwordis“comtech”.
• Type“bi
n”tosetthebinar
ytransfermode.
• Type "put FW‐0000430x_CDM800.bin" (where ‘x’ denotes the revision letter) at the
Command‐line prompt, without quotes, to begin the file transfer. The process
sequences through several blocks – this may take several minutes for the transfer to
occur.On
cetheup
gradefileisreceived,theimageis writtentoFlash memoryandthe
unittransmitsthemessage“UPLOADCOMPLETE.”
Intheeventyoureceivethe“Connectionclosedbyremotehost.”message,
waitanotherminutebeforecontinuing.TheCDM‐800updatesometimes
takeslongerthantheFTPclientallows.
• Type"bye"toterminat
etheFTPsession,andthenclosetheCommand‐linewindow.
3. UsetheCLIortheWebServerInterface‘Admin|Firmware’pagetoverifythatthePC‐to‐
UnitFTPfiletransferwassuccessful.
4. UsetheCDM‐800WebServerInterfacetoselectthefirmwarean
dreboottheunit:
A. SelectthedesiredBootSlot(Image):
• GototheWebServerInterface‘Admi n|Firmware’page.
• Usethe‘BootFrom:’drop‐downmenu
toselectLatest,Slot1,orSlot2(inthe
Firm
wareConfigurat
ionsection).
Bydefault, theunitwillboot fromtheSlot thatstoresthefir m ware versionhaving
thelatestdate(BootFrom:Latest).‘BootFrom:’mayalsobesettoforcetheunitto
bootupusingeitherfirmwareimageloadedinSlot1orSlot2.
