CDM-800 Gateway Router Revision 1
Introduction MN-CDM800
1–2
The CDM‐800 features two 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interfaces, one 10/100 Fast
Ethernet (FE) interface, and provides WAN bandwidth optimization. The unit also features
DVB‐S2FECcoding.

1.2 CDM-800 Functional Description
TheCDM‐800GatewayRouter:
• Is compatiblewith Comtech EF Data’s CDM‐840 Remote Router for Variable Coding and
Modulation(VCM)operation.
• Features a high performance processor and a real‐time operating system (RTOS)
combinedwithmultipleFieldProgrammableGateArrays(FPGAs).
• Runs on an embedded operating sys
tem in
non‐volatile Flash memory. It does not have
movingpartsformediastorage.
• Supportsreceptionandtransmissionof IPdataoversatellitelinksvia twofundamentally

automatically detects for spectral inversion pilots ON/OFF, spectral rolloff of 20%, 25% or 35%,
frame size NORMAL/SHORT, and can also be configured to automaticall y detect the modulation
coding(MODCOD).
