Test Control

The test controls are intended for MetaCarrier debug operations only

and

should not

be used unless instructed by Comtech EF Data Technical Support.

Unintended operation or interference could result if these controls are used.

• FrequencyOffset – Provides  abilitytooffset theMetaCarrierfromthecenterfrequency of

thecarrier.



• PowerRatio–ProvidestheabilitytomodifythepowerleveloftheMetaCarrier.



• TestMode–Thefollowingtestmodesmustbeenteredfromanormaloperatingcondition,

in which the  MCED‐100 is transmitti

ng a MetaCarrier under a carrier from an external 

modulator.



Usethedrop‐downmenutoselectthisoperatingmodeasfollows:



o Normal Mode – This mode clears any test modes, and places the unit back into an

operationalstate.



o TxCW–Th

istestmodeforcestr ansmissionofapureMetaCarrier(u nm odulated).



o Tx Alt 1/0 – Use this mode to check the carrier suppression of the external modulator.

This test mode forces transmission of a MetaCarrier modulated with an alternating

1,0,1,0pattern,at224kcps.Thiscausestwodiscrete spectrallinestoappea

r,spacedat±

½thesymbol/chiprate,aboutthecarrierfrequency. 



o PN224ksps–Thistestmodegeneratesapseudo‐randomnumbersequenceinplaceof

thedatafieldsintheMetaCarrier.ThisMetaCarrieristransmittedat224ksps.


